Frontenac Public Library

The construction of The City of Frontenac’s public library will be a significant community cornerstone. The facility will be the first public library to serve Frontenac and will house a historical community museum collection as well as community gathering space. These spaces, in conjunction with the library and a coffee shop, will enrich and support community engagement and a sense of place.

The site for the new library is located on an 81’ x 170’ lot at the southeast corner of the intersection of McKay and Crawford streets. It is currently the site of Frontenac Town Hall and Municipal Court, a 3,000 square foot CMU-type structure attached to an adjacent post office building. This building is scheduled to be demolished. The library will serve the approximately 3,400 residents of Frontenac as well as the students in the nearby Frontenac school district.

The Library will be welcoming, comfortable, and accessible to all patrons. It will incorporate as many sustainable features as possible to both lessen its environmental impact as well as its economic impact on the community.

Spaces are flexible, and multi-use spaces can change day-to-day to address the community’s needs. With the location only one block from Frontenac Schools, the library will serve as an alternative learning environment and recreational space for the students of Frontenac.
