Clark Huesemann assisted KSU and the College of Education with renovations to Bluemont Hall. The project included relocating the Dean’s office and student advising to the first floor, giving the College a much-needed front door for visibility, access, and school pride. Strategic interventions to the exterior wall of the existing building provide views to the nearby Anderson Lawn and add daylight to all spaces. The suite is anchored by a wood paneled wall that creates a warm and inviting backdrop to the space. By transforming existing classrooms and corridors, the design team was able to create a warm and inviting study area that is now utilized by students from across campus. Adjacent to this study area is the new main College entrance, with an array of student support and advising services available to students. Designed with transparency and privacy, the offices create a welcoming and supportive environment for all students and visitors.
Infrastructure upgrades within the area of renovation include the addition of a fire sprinkler system, mechanical distribution, new lighting, power, fire alarm, and communications.
