This past weekend we decided to participate in the City of Lawrence, Kansas – Municipal Government electronics recycling event. We pooled together e-waste from the office and our studio members’ homes into one Honda Pilot cargo area filled to the rim! The office paid the fees and dropped off the items. The City did a great job organizing the effort and made the whole process easy. Responsible recycling of e-waste keeps toxic items out of the landfill, and it was fun to meet up on a Saturday morning to deliver the recycling. We are excited to see what statistics come from the city on the event – the participation looked high! We also appreciate the free reusable shopping bag printed with recycling rules.

This year, a large clark | huesemann contingent headed out to the Flint Hills for the Cottonwood Road & Gravel 200. Four of our team members spent the long weekend riding through the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve and taking in the incredible Kansas scenery.
A huge thank you to the Kaw Valley Bicycle Club for hosting this ride. It’s an amazing event that highlights the beauty of our state while bringing a great community benefit to the city of Council Grove. We’re already looking forward to next year!
Reflecting on an incredibly inspiring week of student design reviews. Last week, we had the pleasure of joining reviews at Marvin Hall and hosting a second round right here at clark | huesemann. From big ideas to careful details, we were so impressed by the next generation of designers and architects. Thank you to the professors and students who let us be part of your process!
Fourteen years ago, clark | huesemann was founded on the values of service to people and place, thoughtful sustainability, and creative design. Since then, we’ve had the privilege of working alongside incredible clients and partners — from small towns investing in their first public library, to universities reimagining the future of learning, to state institutions building smarter, more sustainable environments, to individuals imagining their forever home. We’re proud of the work, grateful for the relationships, and energized by what’s ahead. Most of all, we’re thankful for the people who have made this journey possible. Here’s to fourteen years — and many more to come.

Construction is well underway at Pittsburg State University’s new Prove-Out Facility, located adjacent to the Tyler Research Center. We recently paid a site visit – and yes, there’s a lot of dirt right now, but here’s a reminder of what’s to come. This facility will serve as a dynamic hub where faculty, students, and industry partners can take research from concept to real-world testing, bridging the gap between laboratory innovation and practical application. We can’t wait to see it rise from the ground.
This week we had the pleasure of welcoming a group of University of Kansas architecture students to our office and out to tour one of the potential sites for the Lawrence Farmers Market’s permanent home! The students are working on a live/work studio design project, and their visit gave them a firsthand look at our process – from how design engages light, materials, and historic preservation to the planning work we’ve been doing alongside the Farmers Market. It’s always energizing to connect with the next generation of designers and planners, and we’re grateful to be part of work that supports such a beloved corner of our community.
